We Parked the Car

A reader recently offered a friendly correction to an earlier post. Those corrections are always welcomed and help me tidy up the blog. However, the correction offered in this case has to be challenged.

Let me explain the situation. In an earlier post I wrote, “We (underline added) parked the car at the bottom of the mountain, and the reader correctly pointed out that it should have read “I parked the car….”

Normally I would agree, but the reader has to consider the fact that Deed also was in the car. And that is a mighty fact.

The truth is that when Deed is with me I never drive the car but that the act of driving is always a communal act. I don’t turn left --- we turn left. I don’t pass on the left --- we pass on the left. I don’t slow down for a curve --- we slow down for a curve.

Anyway, I think you get the idea.
